Day 2 - Play Kingbarns & Crail

am - Kingsbarns - is only 6 miles from St. Andrews and is well worth the phenomenal hype it has received. Having opened in July 2000 it is now being mentioned in the same breath as Turnberry, Dornoch and Cruden Bay. With its true links turf, contoured rolling fairways and majestic vistas of the sea this course is destined to be a classic. The sea plays an integral role in the course design and the sandy dunes also feature prominently in enhancing the course landscape. Length 6652 yards, Par 72.

pm - Crail - Instituted in 1786, Crail is only a short course at under 5922 yards, however plenty of fun and yet another links course where exposure to the wind can make a mockery of the low handicapper. Commanding an inspiringly panoramic position, views of the sea can be enjoyed from every hole, with six holes playing along the rocky beach. The seventh oldest Golf Club in the world. Par 69 and Standard Scratch 70.

Although the last 3 holes are the toughest finish in Championship golf, it is a fair course, which if the wind is kind need not prove too intimidating. Located 23 miles north of Aberdeen, the fact that many golfers will make a significant detour to accommodate this enthralling links is all the recommendation that this course requires. One of the most beautiful settings for a round of golf, with spectacular panoramic views spread over the 6291 yards of the course. Par 70 and Standard Scratch 72.

pm - Royal Aberdeen - Records go back to 1589 as to golf activity at this club. The sixth oldest club in the world. This is a very tough course with gorse from the 6th onwards compounding the test to golfers. Royal Aberdeen much to its credit has been firm in its efforts to preserve old ways. There are also wonderful panoramic views of golden beaches and the Dornoch Firth. Length 6514, Par 70 and Standard Scratch 73.

Accommodation – Dornoch Castle Hotel or Eagle Hotel, Dornoch for 1 night

The Eagle Hotel, Dornoch - is an ideal base for your holiday in the Highlands of Scotland.
